As it turned out, a lot of other reviewers did like it. I’m not going to object to that, because it takes all sorts to make a world, and so on. Rather, it made me wonder if I’d sort of hallucinated how much I liked the first Tales From The Borderlands. How fantastic it was, managing to be both the best Telltale game and the best Borderlands game in one, was a big part of why I was so excited for New Tales....

You process the surrounding dead buildings into resources. Interestingly, you can build up rooms within certain buildings, so you can customise how your headquarters work. It’s driven by an extreme form of capitalism, meaning you buy in ‘migrants’ to populate your city and then monetise those people by forcing them to watch adverts....
What stuck with me is how all or nothing a climb could be, something you commit to until you either get a killer anecdote or end as another speck of colourful polyester in Rainbow Valley. In this sense, Insurmountable’s decision to equate mountaineering with a survival roguelike is astute: one life, one run, all the while coping with the random luck or misfortune dealt by an unpredictable landscape. This is not a polite hobby where you bank your progress for another day, and in this sense the do or die of a roguelike run feels more honest than the hilly simulations of Death Stranding or myriad VR climbing walls currently available....

AliceO. first brought Thatcher’s Techbase to our attention a year ago, and the mod actually reached its first anniversary on Saturday. It’s a hefty piece of moddage, featuring the funky musical talents of Paradise Killer’s Barry “Epoch” Topping and voicework from Hades actor Laila Berzins. Oh, and CyberThatcher claiming the United Kingdom as the tenth circle of Hell. Judging from the state of the political and economic landscape compared with when Thatcher’s Techbase was released, it’s looking more like the place than ever....
Journey To The Savage Planet is a romp, and a worthwhile one. It hasn’t quite left me feeling full, but I am a picky eater. If you’re hankering for a good explore ’em up, the Savage Planet ticks the boxes. You will turn corners and see giant mushroom forests (with a friend, if you like). You will grapple up barnacle cliffs, and hop about lava caves. You’ll shoot at glowing lizards, blast through walls with harvested “bombegranates”, and be snuck up on by silly, frilly, fish....
But a couple of weeks ago, I was searching for a USB cable. Not any USB cable, I might add. The super long one I used for my Oculus Quest. I needed it to test the Oculus Quest 2, you see, but I couldn’t for the life of my remember where I’d stashed it. I ended up turning my entire office upside down to look for it. To me, the best and nicest is the collision of crime worlds when everyone’s favourite wrestledad stops by to sing Baka Mitai from Yakuza’s karaoke minigame. Yakuza is kinda ‘what if GTA but not a shower of bastards?’ and bless his heart, Kiryu doesn’t let the new city change him. As will happen with memes, people have smooshed in so many different things from across pop culture to create variants on the joke....
In a recent blog post, the game’s director Jeremy Russo explained the reason behind the news, saying “a lot of our systems supporting long-term player retention are in need of significant changes.” Russo explained that making these changes, while supporting the game through updates, is “virtually impossible to do” with a team of Velan’s size. Knockout City was originally released as an EA Originals title in 2021, but Velan took publishing duties into their own hands when the game went free-to-play last summer....
Well, now it looks like someone has leaked images from a recent Sims 5 playtest, which seemingly shows a city environment with several apartments to build inside. You can watch the official reveal around the 26 minute mark in the video below: The images are all photos of a screen playing the game, and they were posted to Reddit by a user who has since deleted their account. The screenshots depict several interiors, at least one of which depicts the same scene as official Project Rene footage, as well as glimpses of the UI and tutorial messages....
