Dragon Quest XI originally launched back in 2017. We reckon it’s already one of the best RPGs on PC, so adding more good stuff to it seems like a great idea. The Definitive Edition gives players a photo mode and the ability to speed up battles, as well as the choice of playing with Japanese or English voices. You’ll be able to experience all this in the demo, and completing the main quest in it will also give you three Seeds Of Skill to give you a head-start in the full game....

Video Games Chronicle have obtained pitch documents sent from the ESA to game publishers outlining their proposal for a three-day event of livestreams that will reportedly happen on June 15-17. After that report, an ESA spokesperson followed up with a statement. E3’s cancellation last year didn’t leave us without our usual summer glut of game news. If anything, it was the opposite. Most of the biggest game publishers held their own online shows....

There seems to be some confusion over whether it’s called the EA desktop app (that’s according to GamesIndustry.biz) or the EA Desktop app (from VentureBeat), but that’s not really the important bit. It isn’t just a rename EA has in store, you see, they’re giving their PC platform a big old overhaul to make it a bit more “streamlined”. In an interview with GI.biz, senior vice president Mike Blank said their intentions are “to create a more frictionless, fast, socially-oriented experience for our players”....

El Paso, Elsewhere is inspired by Max Payne. In El Paso, Nightmare players can “experience the motel from hell right as the pandemonium first breaks loose”, in preparation for playing Elsewhere, and it also features several tracks from Elsewhere’s hip-hop soundtrack. If you’re unfamiliar with Strange Scaffold, they have quite the repertoire of unconventional indie games under their belt. The team was behind Witch Strandings and Space Warlord Trading Simulator, one of my favourite games from 2021....

Elden Ring Regal Ancestor Spirit boss fight walkthrough The Regal Ancestor Spirit fight starts off about the same as the regular Ancestor Spirit. However, you may notice the arena is full of adorable spirit critters prancing about. This is a FromSoft game, so those cute little spirit buddies are about to die. Once you get through about a quarter to half of the Regal Ancestor Spirit’s health bar, the boss will glow an ethereal blue and start absorbing the other spirit animals....

Embracer’s purchase of Square Enix’s studios began back in May and included Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal. At the time the purchase was completed, Embracer said that Square Enix Montreal would be rebranded, and the studio was renamed Onoma just three weeks ago. You can still read about the (probably expensive) five-month, five-phase rebrand over at the Onoma site. The GO games applied the skins of other series on top of a surprisingly effective and more-ish tile-based puzzle game, in which you’d direct Lara Croft or Ian Hitman and so on around an isometric world, avoiding traps and dispatching enemies along the way....

Romero revealed a quick teaser trailer for Make It Count today to introduce Lansky “the accountant”. Sounds like he’s also in charge of accounting for dead bodies, not just missing money. Romero Games say that the DLC will add a set of missions telling the story of Lansky and the Fixers, which will let you unlock their loan shark racket as well. Romero Games also recently revealed some additional details about the Precinct Update in their own announcement post....

“Over time, we’ve seen the vast majority of players prefer to explore other aspects of the game,” Bethesda say. “It has also become tougher to put full Nuclear Winter lobbies together without also making sacrifices on match wait times. Additionally, we’ve found it challenging to provide meaningful updates for Nuclear Winter, while also developing and supporting exciting new content for Adventure Mode in recent and upcoming updates.” When Nuclear Winter first came out, Jay Castello wrote about how the mode was fun, but flimsy....

It was described as “relaxing solo content” in a Letter From The Producer livestream last month, for which you’ll need no prior character experience in crafting. You’ll be able to gather, build, care for creatures and craft. If folks can’t build chocobo farms, I’ll be very disappointed....

You play as Lin Lixun, a new police officer on his first case investigating a fire at a funeral in a small mountain town. This soon leads Lixun to a recent family annihilation that was considered a closed case, where a couple, their daughter-in-law, and their grandaughter were all found dead some months after the death of their son. Lixun, who is able to communicate with the dead, goes on a surreal and frightening investigation into the Tian family’s deaths to find out what really happened....

QA testers in particular seem to have suffered while working on Fallout 76, which follows a pattern of low pay and long hours seen at other studios in the industry. It’s why QA contractors working on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf for BioWare Edmonton and Call Of Duty testers at Raven Software have recently voted to form unions. Testers on Fallout 76 allege that ZeniMax management expected them to work overtime regularly, and to come in on weekends even when the outcome wouldn’t contribute anything to the project....

Patch 3.410.860.2 (which is a lot more numbers than I was expecting) fixes a whole bunch of crashes that can occur when; an emote is earned while offline, starting Horizon Arcade, spawning traffic cars, loading EventLab events, and upgrading cars. It also sorts a bunch of problems with the game’s multiplayer, including improving online traffic and the general stability of Horizon Life connections. It fixes a pesky issue that would make player’s cars stop when losing connection to Horizon Life too, and has disabled convoy voice chat so they can figure out what’s causing long load times in online events....

When I do decide to head down Mexico way, I’ll get a better experience for having waited. Playground Games’ second patch for the game went live this week, bringing tons of fixes. The most substantial fixes come to Convoys and Horizon Arcade. Convoys are just what they sound like: small groups of players driving the open world together for multiplayer shenanigans. The latest patch includes fixes for bugs where convoy members could disappear, where serching for a convoy could “result in an infinite load”, as well as several UI tweaks....

The results are on the face of it rather grim, with some job losses and game delays and lots of struggling people. But they’re not half as bad as you might think, and some are even getting on relatively well as they adapt. Let’s have a look. Almost 2500 games developers responded, and right away there’s an interesting split in company sizes. 20% of respondents work alone, and another 15% in a team of under 6....

It might be inscrutable if you’re not already invested in these characters, though: If you want to sign up to participate in the beta, you can do so at its official site. Honkai: Star Rail is a space fantasy RPG in which you travel from planet to planet on a spacefaring train. The closed beta will feature several locations, including Herta Space Station, and two “major destinations”, Jarilo VI and Xianzhou Luofu....

Exaggerations aside, this is a legitimately good price for a monitor of this spec, especially one that has actually attracted reasonable reviews in its category. It ticks a lot of boxes - great contrast, good colour accuracy, reasonable pixel density, a sturdy stand, four display inputs and FreeSync/G-Sync Compatible support. Not bad at all! *for millionaires, I guess Get a Monoprice Zero-G 1440p 144Hz monitor for $190 (was $250)...
