To start with the cheapest bundle, you can get your hands on animal-breeding survival strategy sim Niche, platformer MagiCat, and puzzler Evergarden all for a meagre $1 (about 76p). Pip quite liked Niche, which has a great little origin story to go with it: To get the next tier too, you need to pay more than the average price so far - currently a not-so-whopping $7....

Rockstar now say on the Steam page that Grand Theft Auto IV will again be available to buy from March 19th. At that point, the original game and its standalone expansions, Episodes From Liberty City, will only be available in the one Complete Edition. GTA IV on Steam will be upgraded to the Complete Edition and download the EFLC content. EFLC, on the other hand, will be outright removed from owners’ Steam libraries and replaced with the Complete Edition so they’ll need to download the lot....

Grounded’s animated adaptation takes place in the same universe as the game, Deadline reports, and will follow the adventures of four young pals turned two-inches tall by a shrinking ray as they try to survive in a backyard. Obsidian and Microsoft have joined with Vancouver-based CG company Waterproof Studios/SC Productions, Kinetic Media and Rick And Morty studio Bardel Entertainment to produce the animated series. Friedman is also adapting Earthworm Jim into a new animated show, too....

As a pure gaming keyboard, there’s a lot to like here. Measuring just 302x108x40mm (the same size as Ducky’s existing One 2 Mini keyboard), its tiny proportions mean I can position both of my hands much closer together than a full-sized or tenkeyless keyboard, and it puts a lot less strain on my old mouse arm. I’m one of those people who’s forever trying to inch their mouse mat as close to their keyboard as possible in order to make things comfortable, so it was a relief when I didn’t have to go through my normal sizing up routine when I swapped out my Fnatic miniStreak for the HyperX x Ducky One 2 Mini....

Apparently things are going quite well for the mega space company Lynx Corp that hands out your contracts. You’ll now be able to take on the new Javelin class ships. They’re funky, modular ships with many of their components facing outwards into space. Apparently their odd construction is likely to turn your deconstruction strategies inside out as well. The interiors are tighter, say the developers Blackbird Interactive. “Interior space on Javelin-Class ships is limited, and maneuverability can be challenging,” they warn....

The existing career mode cuts you off and forces you back to base every 15 minutes, making things too stressful and intrusive for some. You can now take all the time you want with a wreck instead. They’ve also made the puzzling decision to give you an infinite oxygen supply for this mode. This is all additive, so players who like the thrill of yanking out a nuclear reactor and blasting it to safety in the dying ten seconds of a shift can still blow themselves up on company time....

After a while, I found its early access release got a little lonely and a little samey, but that might have changed with today’s “Salvage Your Future” update. It revamps Shipbreaker’s campaign and introduces four new voiced characters. I loved Hardspace: Shipbreaker when I played it last year, but held off on celebrating it in our end-of-year lists because it felt like it would only get better with more time in development....

In Murder By Numbers, you play Honor Mizrahi, a former TV actress who ends up finding a new line of work as an amateur detective after her show’s writer winds up dead at his desk in a gruesome murder case. As the last person to see him alive, she gets accused of doing him in, and must fight to prove her innocence by… solving lots of Picross puzzles. Strictly speaking, it’s Honor’s flying, talking robot pal Scout who’s doing all the puzzle-solving, as you’re technically using his 1990s scanner tech to analyse clues and evidence in the world around you, bringing them into focus by deciphering what’s part of the image and what’s not....

Anyway, he’s been prodding me for ages to play a game called Sea Salt, and his patience has paid off at last, because I had a go at the weekend. So, Greg, this is for you: Sea Salt is really fun. It’s a bit like a really dark Pikmin, I suppose? You’re Dagon, the Big Man himself off of HP Lovecraft - I’ll just pause there to clarify that 1) I’m not a Lovecraft fan, so that’s not the appeal of the game, and 2) Sea Salt is blessedly free of convoluted lore and racism and the like....

Rosa Blackwell has a kind of love/hate relationship with her familial ability of mediuming. By The Blackwell Epiphany, she’s pretty much accepted it, and her spirit guide Joey, an appropriately wise-cracking 1930s trenchcoated ghost. As a capper to an almost decade-long series, Epiphany is great, with stories resolved and emotions flying all over the place. But it’s also a great game in its own right, and playing it first is what made me want to go back and try the whole series....

Wandersong is a classic underdog story. Our melodious bard protagonist, you see, isn’t allowed to be the ‘hero’ when he finds out his world’s about to kick the bucket. It’s just not part of ‘his story’. He’s a bard, after all, and bards aren’t made for wielding giants swords like proper heroes. His arms are simply too weedy. But what happens when said anointed, sword-wielding hero gets led astray by a conniving fairy creature?...

I don’t much dip my toe in the RTS genre these days, but when I was little they were the majority of what my brother played, and thus were the majority of what I played. And the Warcraft games were my favourite (also leading to a glorious failed gatekeeping attempt when an older boy at school said “Um, I think you mean Warhammer?”). A 1993 Amiga game from Lemmings-makers Psygnosis* (who I still read as pie-sig-know-sis in my head), Wiz ‘N’ Liz (while we’re on the subject, I always read “‘N’” as a sort of brief straining sound), was a liquid-fast platformer where you played as a couple of aged wizards, sprinting around bizarre, oversaturated landscapes collecting rabbits. On researching it for this piece, I remembered just what a brute its soundtrack was, too....

I like reading physical books the best, because I like turning pages. I buy books from charity shops a lot because they are absurdly cheap, and it’s also a bit like treasure hunting. Last time I went (before the lockdown) I got a beautiful edition of The Great Gatsby. Then I can take the books back and re-donate them, like a library but one that makes you feel a bit smug for using it....

The Demon Hunter is pretty aggro, with lots of ways to power up his hero attack and a fair few cards that hurt his own minions. The ends justify the means when you’re still trying to impress your brother’s girlfriend after 10,000 years, right? You can see all the Demon Hunter cards on Hearthstone’s website. Because the Demon Hunter is starting with far fewer cards than the other classes currently have, Blizzard will slip them five more cards than the rest in each of the Year Of The Phoenix expansions....

So, I sat down with the game’s creative director Jonathan Jacques-Belletête in the hopes he could shed some light on the aforementioned vibes, perhaps even turning them from ethereal gusts of Annihilation-ness to concrete info on just how the game aims to be a “true adventure”. Lo and behold, I think it worked! When you think “open world”, you might see Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey’s sprawling Greece composed of many regions and islands, all pocked with map markers that guide you from one quest to another....
