The World Ends With You is set in the Tokyo district of Shibuya, kinda, but a bit wonked because we’ve been sucked into the supernatural Reapers’ Game. So sure, we’ll spend time exploring the area, eating fancy dinners with our pals, shopping for clothes, and becoming friends with folks. And then you engage in violence, beating up baddies and monsters to try and win the game and survive. Neo: The World Ends With You is coming via the Epic Games Store on the 28th of September, priced at £50....

Michelle needs to jog around and try to sort her predicament out, with other characters drawing her deeper into Sorry We’re Closed’s demon realm. You’ll have to chat up some interesting looking peeps, including that one chimera lad from the trailer who’s part winged beast with some horse thrown in. This is a game where goat heads appear from tongues unrolling from disembodied, floating vampiric mouths, and creatures that look like plucked geese try to kill you....

The game opens with an extremely anime narrative sequence and we’re introduced to the lovable (and less so) doofuses we’ll be shooting up paradise with. This is where most folks will stop and squee at the fact that player character Neon White is voiced by the incomparable Steve Blum, perhaps known best for his role as sonorous space cowboy Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop. White is joined by his fellow demon-slaying Neons including Yellow (best boy), Violet (sucks), Red (mysterious), and Green (bad guy)....

It’s not just the VR version of No Man’s Sky that’s getting DLSS support, either. From today, the desktop version of Hello Games’ procedurally generated space adventure will also be getting DLSS support, giving players a performance boost of up to 70% when playing at 4K, according to Nvidia. By their count, this should mean that even RTX 2060 owners will be able to hit an average of 57fps on max settings at 4K with DLSS set to ‘Performance mode’ once you’ve downloaded the game’s latest update, which is a damn sight better than their previous average of just 28fps with the same set of settings without DLSS....

Cards on the table, I’ve always been a little iffy over the idea of making Minecraft look “photorealistic”. Oh, I’m not against fancy shaders per say - I traversed Nate Crowley’s ham-juggling Mieville-esque forbidden realm using a lovely combination of lighting, toon outlines and bold texture packs to create a delightfully stylised block-breaker. Against bog-standard Minecraft textures, though, hyper-detailed lighting feels pretty daft. But even I, a jaded weirdo who prefers to play games in 480p or lover, will admit that Nvidia have done a good job flaunting this feature....

Orangeblood is a JRPG about hip hop. It is about gangsta rap, thus unfortunately preoccupied with guns, murder and posturing. But as a setting for a game about combat… yeah, okay. That makes sense. And I can’t deny that the beats were solid enough to get me tapping. More importantly though, I’ve played it for a short while and the combat doesn’t make me wish it was a person so I could hit it with a brick....

The Overwatch development team shared some details of Junker Queen’s abilities on Twitter ahead of this round of the beta. The tank wields a ‘scattergun’ pump action shotgun, as well as a jagged blade that can passively damage enemies over time by inflicting wounds or be thrown and dragged back. Ouch. Junker Queen’s commanding shout ability increases health by 200 and also boosts nearby allies by 100, along with boosting movement speed by 30%....
