Consider me excited therefore at the release of The Amnesia Fortnight Movie, a new two-hour documentary which focuses on four games being made in ten days for Double Fine’s internal game jam in 2019. It’s free and on YouTube and embedded below. I’ve watched 37 minutes of it before stopping to write this post, and I’m enjoying it so far. Techland haven’t laid out their plans all the way through to made-up future year 2027 in minute detail just yet. However, a roadmap for a series of updates and add-ons informally titled the “Start of the Journey” has been unveiled, laying out the content planned for the game between February and June of 2022. As yet, it’s unclear whether Techland’s estimate that it will take you 500 hours to complete absolutely everything in Dying Light 2 is inclusive or exclusive of all this planned post-launch content....

Spark’d actually has all the ingredients that I love about terrible reality TV shows, plus it involves The Sims 4. On paper, it should be amazing. And indeed, there are already minor Twitter beefs between fans, and contestants complaining about the broadcast edit not showing the full truth. All classic stuff! But it’s clear that Spark’d will never achieve greatness unless EA loosens the apron strings enough to let their reality TV baby become a hot, hot mess....

The popular in-game event Fasnacht Day was expected to start on Monday, but was quickly stalled by a bug. Players reacted with great frustration as the event was taken down, depriving everyone of an hourly semi-charming, semi-creepy masked robot march. Bethesda report that all is now well, and the event restarts today. Based on a real event, Fasnacht Day runs every hour, encouraging players to hunt for decorative trinkets, and culminates in a parade of jolly masked robots....

In a forum post, Endwalker’s developers say that the game’s surge in popularity over the past year means that they’re expecting “a number of logins that is yet to be seen since the launch of FFXIV,” but that the global semiconductor shortage means they can’t fix the issue. “Since the launch of a new expansion is when a large number of players will be playing for extended periods of time, we are expecting far more simultaneous logins compared to usual,” reads the post....

As such, Hearthstone’s current single player content series, the Book Of Heroes, is a particular treat. Every month, starting from last month, the BoH unlocks a new series of eight linked boss fights, where you take on the role of one of Hearthstone’s ten emblematic class heroes, and fight through the landmark moments of their pretend careers. In a strange departure from Hearthstone’s usual tongue-in-cheek, saturday-morning-cartoon energy, these stories are played straight, with proper melodrama and everything, and it works surprisingly well....

Producer and director of Final Fantasy XIV Naoki Yoshida addressed the game’s login issues in a lengthy blog post. He says that they’re planning a “full maintenance on the lobby servers at the earliest timing possible” to resolve errors. Maintenance timing hasn’t been set in stone yet, though. It’s set to last roughly 30 minutes and if you’re already logged in, it won’t affect you. However, players won’t be able to make new login attempts during this period....
