Halo Infinite Ranks: What are ranks and tiers in Ranked Arena? Ranks are an indicator of your performance in Ranked Arena matches. While this system isn’t entirely new to Halo Infinite, it has been overhauled and expanded since Halo 5. Halo Infinite Ranked Arena features a total of 31 Ranks for you to progress through. These are divided into six named tiers, five of which are split up into 30 numbered sub-divisions, with only the very top tier standing alone....

Despite lots of talk about Infinite being the first truly open-world Halo, I didn’t see enough to make a call either way - an HUD map showed some kind of open area, but it looked like it might have been broken up into several large arenas, rather than being properly free-roam. We’ll see. And indeed, I’ll have more to say tomorrow, after I’ve spoken with the developers. But for now, I want to talk about the best bit of the Infinite demo, which was the horrifyingly intense space gorilla ASMR video it ended on....

Here we are, a billion credits deep in debt, trying to dig up to solvency by breaking spaceships down for scrap. Head in with your cutter and tethers to slice and tease the ship apart, identify and extract valuable parts, and try not to ruin everything by cutting coolant, starting fires, decompressing atmosphere a little too explosively, sending the reactor into meltdown, and so on. Sell the parts, buy a new wreck, and repeat....

Yes to all of the above, please. In truth, it doesn’t quite live up to that initial heady statement, but this stylish visual novel is still one hell of a ride all the same. Ride being the operative word, there, as if you’re anything like me then you’ll probably spend a good portion of your investigation sitting in the back of a cab as you travel between different locations. You can sit there in silence if you wish, but I often found the tales these drivers had to tell were actually far more interesting than the murder I was meant to be solving....

Beat Saber is a rhythm game in which you swing lightsabers to slice through blocks to the beat of the music. The blocks need to be sliced with the matching coloured saber and in a specific direction indicated on the face of the block. If you’ve played Guitar Hero or Rock Band, you understand the fundamental satisfaction of this, but slicing objects in VR amplifies that pleasure tenfold. The game’s initial tracklist is good, though I’d recommend picking up some of the DLC packs as well....

El Hijo - A Wild West Tale, however, is all about avoiding conflict. And it’s one of the most wholesome and pure stealth games I’ve played in the past few years. Rather than some sort of superhuman special agent, you play as a six-year-old boy that’s been separated from his mother, and your main aim is to reunite with said mam. And you don’t do that by leaving a trail of bodies in your wake....

Ah well. There are plenty more bounties in space. It works, partly, because you’re trying to do your best with limited tools. This teleporter won’t work through doors, that one only lets you swap with another person. If you’re accepting missions at a reasonable difficulty level, you’re probably fine. But you’re probably not fine. You’ve probably jumped straight into an “audacious” mission with a wrench and a couple of EMP grenades, tricking yourself into believing you can think your way out of trouble....

The game’s watery expanse is, in my humble opinion, one of the greatest survival game stages. It plays perfectly into those of us who’ve got a deep fear of the ocean, or both an affection and respect for what lurks beneath. The surface is a tranquil hub filled with rainbow coral and cute critters. And as you start gearing up, you’re forced to probe further and further into a fishy world that still wriggles and writhes with life, yet falls more and more silent....

What makes Yoku’s Island Express stand out in a crowded market is that you can’t jump. You can move left and right, but your feet stay planted on the ground at all times. Well, all times except when you absolutely flake Yoku with a pinball paddle and send him shooting up into the air. He’s smiling, though, so you needn’t worry about harming the little cutie. Maybe he enjoys the pain....

This time, the amusement being dragged from the engrammatic brine is Simcity 2000, and its musical parasite is one that shows my age even more than the game itself. The End. Oh no! Things, as things are wont to do, go awry. A minor earthquake tips their parked spaceship home off a cliff, but on the upside it also opens up some energy bridges to other parts of Source, allowing Kay and Yu to explore and look for a solution....

So far, I’ve spotted two new pilots: Adam and Kai. Adam has a big burly ginger beard, while Kai’s flexing an awesome blue haircut. Almost every part of Into The Breach will be getting a spruce up with fresh stuff to try. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the Advanced Edition update is the ‘Unfair’ difficulty mode, which chucks the tricksy Alpha Vek monsters into the game much earlier and more frequently....

Actual details are pretty sparse, and an accompanying minisite explains that a full reveal for Year 2 content (Hitman 3 released in January 2021) won’t come until early next year. For now, we know one of the new modes will be named Elusive Target Arcade, with it promising a twist on the current once-chance-only Elusive Target challenge mode. Abrak also hints at “new maps, new storylines, new modes [and] new ways of playing”, so it sounds like 2022 will see Hitman 3 on the end of some pretty beefy DLC....
