It doesn’t mark the point where it will go free-to-play, as was once planned. I suppose that may well make business sense when part of your videogame is big enough to worry Netflix. Epic themselves have stayed shtum on the decision to not go free-to-play, simply saying that Fortnite “will remain a premium experience”. The linguistic bullishness continues. Although, they are also removing “the legacy Early Access label” from the battle royale mode, calling that “a holdover” from the launch of Save The World....

The lawsuit mentions that some of the children spent hundreds of dollars on skins and dances in the game, including times when their parents weren’t aware of how much they were paying out. One child had allegedly put more than 7,700 hours into Fortnite over a period of less than two years, sometimes playing until 3am. Another was claimed to have played the battle royale for the equivalent of around 42 full days....

The flood comes in the wake of a live in-game event on Monday involving a mysterious device named, ah, The Device. That event did have some cool first-person cutscenes too, hinting at… something? I could not tell you what Fortnite’s plot is but I do like how Epic tell these scenes in a huge multiplayer game (it has come at a price: the pace of developing the live game has at times lead to horrible crunch at Epic)....

The tech giant explained the decision in an announcement today, saying that “while Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected so we’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service.” The post also says that Google continue to see applications for the technology they’ve developed for Stadia in other parts of the company, including “YouTube, Google Play, and our Augmented Reality (AR) efforts”, as well as potential to “make it available to our industry partners....

Halo 2 PC multiplayers had been mystified by ‘ghost’ rockets that travelled clean through enemies and somehow blew up teamies who weren’t even close. It’s been reported with grenades and other weapons too. 343 Industries have posted a timeline of their investigation into it, and their attempts to fix it. They point to this fella as the first they saw suffering it: They say that they were working with PC port team Saber Interactive to figure out, reproduce, and ultimately fix the bug, and Saber did yesterday send back a test build with a potential fix....
