Soon we discover that we are able to commune with the meat and, through it, speak to a enigmatic being called The Oracle....

So Deathtrap Dungeon, yeah? It’s that. Only it’s a game rather than a fish. And rather than providing a haunting glimpse down through the yggdrasilian roots of tetrapod biology, it’s a showcase of how simultaneously charming and rubbish 1980s trad fantasy was. It’s an FMV game, a format that’s a bit of a living fossil itself, despite something of a recent comeback, and it’s based on the legendary Fighting Fantasy gamebook of the same name, authored by Monsterpreneur and Games Workshop co-founder Ian Livingstone....

Last Tuesday, Bungie quietly added a new quest sending players back into the Corridors of Time, the big alien time machine we used to rescue our pal Saint-14 earlier this season. Just explore, it said. See what you see. No real reason. Players discovered symbols being displayed on this season’s time-bending Obelisks, changing every hour. These symbols matched symbols marking portals in the corridors, and turned out to be maps through timelines all ending at the same place: an unnamed Guardian’s grave....

The news was spotted by ResetEra forum members, based on a LinkedIn update by DeMarle. Although there’s no word on what DeMarle is working on, five months ago BioWare were advertising for a narrative director to work on the Mass Effect series. Whatever project DeMarle will be working on, it’s probably good news for BioWare fans. DeMarle most recently led the writing team on Eidos Montreal’s Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy game, and the chatter between its spacefaring team was praised in almost every review - including our own....

According to The Verge, the feature first began testing last year before returning now as Watch Together. They say Discord have re-prioritised it due to the recent music bot shutdowns. You can test Watch Together right now in the Discord Game Lab server. An announcement there says it’s currently in the “experimentation phase”, and there are channels to provide feedback on the feature if you fancy giving it a go....

It was one-of-a-kind until yesterday, when Double Fine released PsychOdyssey, a 32-episode documentary series charting the creation of Psychonauts 2. Each episode is typically between 20 minutes and an hour long, and I’ve had a great time watching the first three so far. The first episode uses archive footage and staff interviews to briefly cover the development of Psychonauts 1 - a story that includes the founding of Double Fine, the game being canned by Microsoft, and the team greatly overworking themselves....

This is pretty good news for Dying Light: Bad Blood, because at the time of writing its all-time peak concurrent players is 494 - which it hit about an hour ago, undoubtedly because players no longer have to pay for it. Before that its average active player base was between 2 to 9. Probably doesn’t help that it hasn’t been updated since March 2019. Despite this, Bad Blood isn’t a bad game....

Elden Ring Radagon boss fight walkthrough Radagon is deceptively fast, lurching across the arena with a variety of long-distance lunge attacks. When Radagon rears back to swing, you cannot get comfortable no matter how far away you are. Just about the entire arena is in range of most of his arsenal. He also has a variety of quick follow-ups and combo chains, so you can’t just roll once and swing. Radagon also uses several abilities that deal Holy damage in large areas....

I’m no better at playing Elden Ring, to be honest. I spent a good couple of hours last night just trying to get past one of those big tentacle-beard monkey lads with the hollowed out stomachs on the way up to Stormveil Castle. Not even a named, actual sub-boss! And yet, I’m actually enjoying this version of Souls-style head-bashing a lot more than I’ve ever done before. And I think it’s to do with Elden Ring’s plentiful supply of save points....

For three days last week, I practically waltzed over to my friend’s PS5 (that I, err, ‘borrowed’, as sadly Elden Ring’s closed network test isn’t available on PC this time around). But even though my hands-on with Elden Ring was brief, I’m confident that this is Souls taking a step in the right direction....
