There’s a heart-breaking inevitability that something would go wrong with such an ambitious, internet-dependent game launch, but Microsoft haven’t done themselves any favours. The expectation of a pre-load is to get the game onto your black box so you don’t need to worry about it at launch. Microsoft’s attempt at doing this involved pre-loading the 500MB launcher only. The full Flight Sim download is 91GB. In an early version provided by Capcom, the Monster Hunter Rise PC demo lets you tackle three of the series most iconic beasties. For ‘beginners’, there’s the Great Izuchi, a vicious raptor-like monster with a very sharp scythe tail. Priced at an identical £399 / $400 at time of writing, the only real difference between the MSI Optix MAG272CQR and AOC’s AG273QX is its lack of HDR support. Right, here’s where I admit that Oblivion is my least favourite of the past three Elder Scrolls games. Even I’m stoked for Skyblivion after watching that trailer, though. Skyblivion is being worked on by a separate team to the Skywind mod, which aims to bring The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind into Skyrim and shouldn’t be confused with the long-running Tamriel Rebuilt modding effort. From the streams I’ve watched, the experience of playing it seems to be a traditional mixture of combat, light dialogue choices, and small puzzles. The combat pits you and your pals against a menagerie of nightmare creatures, but while the Steam page is covered in content warnings, I’ve not seen anything gruesome or indulgently dark. It’s serious about its serious themes, and lighthearted in abundance to balance it out. What’s intriguing to me is the particular details of its world, and the lovely characters within it....
