Developer Jeff Ramos chatted about Handcop with IGN this week after his handsy detective gathered quite a lot of attention on Twitter and Reddit. Like in Her Story, you’re rifling through video files on a computer, though, where Her Story was clips of police interviews, this is like, surveillance conducted by the NSA on a clandestine operation into the possible terrorist activity of what is basically a bunch of hippies talking a big game. Nevertheless, a bomb did go off, so you need to figure out what lead up to that. Each video you find is only one half of a conversation, so if you find one where a camgirl is talking about her Halloween costume, you might find the other half by searching the files for “Halloween” or “vampire” or whatever....
I thought that The Messenger was going to be a rather short platformer at first, something akin to the games of the 1980s. Indeed, there were times where leaping across levels as a ninja were felt remarkably similar to Ninja Gaiden. As I scaled a mountain to deliver a message about a demon invasion, I got new abilities that furthered my ninja skills. Things got weird in a tower when the game started throwing puzzles into the mix, but it worked well enough....
I really liked the whole little crew in this, another example of how an Ubi series only gets properly good with the second game. Watch Dogs 2 is set in the bay area, principally San Francisco, and it’s a fun playground version of it where you can action-adventure hack your way to defeating an evil megacorp that’s stealing data and spying and whatnot. Dedsec, you gang of hackers, is a little family of outcasts, and Ubisoft actually gets pretty close to talking meaningfully about things like gender, race, mental health and autism (pretty close, but no cigar)....

The v1.01 patch notes detail problems addressed today. It includes fixes for start-up crashes, a bug stopping some players from being able to save their game, and more. It also improved diagnostics for reporting crashes, which should help them get to the bottom of remaining issues. As Katharine found out first hand, the game has also suffered problems with things including anisotropic filtering and framerate stuttering. Guerrilla say they’re still looking into those, among other issues, and do warn that this patch has not fixed all the crashes....
