Japanese magazine Famitsu recently interviewed Elden Ring game director Hidetaka Miyazaki, which has now been translated and posted on Reddit by “theangryfurlong”. It has some precious nuggets of knowledge, and I’d say one about the day and weather cycles really caught my eye. That asterisk holds the key to my curiosity, as the translator then pops in a note saying that the “trails” Miyazaki refers to are those “left by animals/monsters”, as opposed to being pathways....

Spider-Man is about as Marvel-related as you can get. I said back when the remaster of Insomniac’s first Spider-Man game came to PC that the reason to not buy it was that Miles Morales was coming to PC in a few months. A few months has become now. And I must own that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a good game. It’s a big, bold action adventure full of heroics and quips, and it’s still the better Spider-Man game....

Developer Gareth Damian Martin announced the new project as part of narrative game convention LudoNarraCon over the weekend with this cryptic trailer. The teaser trailer doesn’t really let on much, but there’s a bit more to glean from the game’s store page description. Another in-world log from the page seems to come from the other side of a conflict. “Putting aside the lawless occupation of this station and countless illegal acts it houses, the very existence of such a place, in its independence, should be considered a threat,” says the report....

The Core i5-11400F is fundamentally identical to the 11400 - it’s just that the F model doesn’t have any integrated graphics built-in. As such, you’ll need to pair it with a graphics card if you want anything to appear on your monitor when you come to turn it on. Otherwise, they’re exactly the same chip. And for lack of any other competition right now, this £150 / $230 CPU is probably the closest thing you’ll get to a great budget gaming CPU in 2021....

This month’s cautionary tale: Nanotech, a game about building microscopic creatures in a petri dish and giving them simple, gobbling behaviours. It looks neat. Nanotech seemingly didn’t make it far through the development process, and what’s there is more toy than game. There are also some “mixed metaphors” in its concept, as designer Chris Delay explains, but I’ll do my best to summarise. The idea is that you’re peering down a microscope into a petri dish filled with tiny robots, molecules and amino acids, and the player has to bioengineer tiny lifeforms that can process the resources around it....

Update: The Attack Helicopters which enabled this exploit have been temporarily disabled until it’s fixed. The invisibility glitch is reportedly achieved by doing something funky with the new Attack Helicopters added in the Season One update. I’ll not go into detail but yeah, it’s something pretty easy to enable. Some people have reported that invisible people are immune to many forms of damage, though I do know they can be killed in some ways....

While I didn’t really dig the EP’s first single, The Baddest, the second, More, is a good’un: It’s good! K/DA’s animation is weird though, not like real bodies. I mean they aren’t real bodies. But should virtual stars aim for real? Is the queer feeling of the uncanny valley meant to amplify enjoyment of their unreality?...

While KOF isn’t my personal go-to fighting game, it’s hard to deny how effortlessly cool Omega Rugal looks. And although they’ve had to nerf Omega Rugal to balance him, his overpowered boss form is also getting added separately. In a tweet posted by SNK, they explain that the Boss Challenge mode requires you to “take down the fearsome OMEGA RUGAL CPU.” That’s right KOF fans, the pleasure of bashing your head against an Omega Rugal boss fight is now available in the comfort of your own home!...

Indie studio GuruGuru worked with Konami to develop this 2D “roguevania” as they call it. What this means is that you’ll be thrust into an underworld blighted by demons, do some fighting, lots of exploring, and get your arse handed to you often. It looks fantastic too, with this Ukiyo-e art style that just pops. Boot up Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and it’s quite something. You can take your pick from a carousel of all nine Star Wars films to date: the originals, the prequels, the sequels. Although, it only lets you access the first from each of these ‘series’ to begin with, so that’s A New Hope, The Phantom Menace, or The Force Awakens. Once you’ve beaten one of these you move onto the next in the boxset....

If anything, the game as a whole is a wonderful surprise. Planet-hopping as Star Lord is great fun, made even better by his colourful compatriots and the genuinely funny craic they share. Marvel fan or clueless layman? Doesn’t matter, you’re in for a good time no matter where you sit on the MCU scale. Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy follows the exploits of Peter Quill a.k.a Star Lord who leads a band of misfits: Gamora, the deadliest assassin in the galaxy; Drax, a muscular titan who’s unintentionally hilarious; Rocket, a clever raccoon who likes explosives; and Groot, who reaffirms that he is Groot with every breath....

Although they’ve been writing in this universe for quite some time in Sunless Skies and Sunless Sea, Failbetter say that Mast Of The Rose will be a good starting point for folks new to the setting. It takes place shortly after London’s fall, making it a prequel to their other games, which sounds like it may help to ease the less familiar into the weird setting. “London has been abruptly transported underground....

For the first time since its 2015 release, not a single player had possession of a nuclear weapon. Enough people chose to destroy them that there were simply none left. The result is the unlocking of a new celebratory cutscene, which you can see below thanks to a YouTube user known as Steff. It’s not all that substantial, content-wise. But I like that it uses some stark real world facts and quotes to contextualise itself....

505 Games are promoting their next game’s reveal ahead of The Game Awards next week with a video starring Madsen, who voiced Dishonored’s Daud and GTA 3’s Tony. I’m not entirely sure what’s going on here, but if I were Geoff I’d be a bit worried. The whole thing made me laugh as it’s got a vaguely lo-fi The Office quality to it, and Madsen’s on fine form as, well, Michael Madsen....

Fauna Faire gives you the chance to play the game’s Game-Of-Death-esque Tower mode with mates for the first time. Four-player co-op is coming to the Tower, adjusting the difficulty based on how many people are ascending its floors. Three new floors are coming in the update, and two new bosses in the forms of the Tempest Golem and Ancient Guardian. Each player will get an individual reward for finishing the Tower....

Today the developers at Capcom revealed two additional monsters that will be released in version 11, the Silver Rathalos and the Gold Rathian.
