Crimesight takes place in 2027, when violent crime has nearly been eradicated thanks to an AI that predicts them before they happen. When the AI predicts a series of crimes that can’t be prevented, its engineers make a better AI called Sherlock to out-deduce baddie AI Moriarity who’s at the center of it all. You’re not quite playing as Sherlock or Moriarity, mind. You’re one of these simulated unlucky travelers all snowed in together in a cottage....

I know it wouldn’t be fun if the nice stuff was too easy to get your hands on, but like, a little bit easier wouldn’t hurt, you know? The annual summer event is yet again filling the European Aerial Zone with all manner of Destiny baddies for you and your strike team to challenge. You’ll have to deal with waves of enemies, murder bosses, then go on the hunt for chests to unlock your rewards....

The update is called Reunion for a reason. Host of Dicey Dungeons Lady Luck has gathered the original six contestants back for a reunion special, but they won’t be facing familiar challenges this time around. Each episode chucks new elements at a contestant, such as equipment that can baffle the Thief’s penchant for pinching, and collecting sets of dice for the Warrior to level them. Cavanagh and co. say the DLC introduces completely new enemy layouts and fresh equipment to find....

Oh, and you can play it with a really, really wide monitor now. Case closed. Today’s free update adds support for ultra-wide resolutions, adds some high-quality FLAC tunes to the soundtrack, and drops some new wallpapers alongside an updated Art Booklet DLC. The real star of the show, however, is that brutal new Hardcore True Detective mode for detectives looking for a tougher case to crack. Normally in this kinda RPG, an ultra-hard mode would have monsters hit harder and more often....

First up on the chopping block is the Activity Feed. I’m sure someone out there used it, but I—a person who is on Discord during all of my waking hours seven days a week—did not. Apparently it lets you launch games you’ve recently played even from other launchers. Ah, hello to Sims 4, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Stardew Valley. Good to see you tucked up there. It tells you what your friends have recently played....

The WSJ report that “people familiar with the matter” say Discord has interest in floating on the stock market down the line, but also note talks could resume with Microsoft at a later date. Discord also apparently considered interest from three companies about a sale. Microsoft have been on an acquisition spree over the past few years, particularly in games, buying up Mojang, Obsidian, inXile, Bethesda and more. Discord is a popular chat platform for people playing games, but would also have given Microsoft stronger footing in social media services....

I’m not a Dota boy, but I do love Valve’s animated trailers. This is a nice one: The Mad Moon’s destruction has sent fragments of magic rock crashing across the world. A new Nemestice event mode has players fighting over these meteorite fragments and gaining boosts to damage output and movement speed by gatharing Nemestice Embers. There are also new “Nemestice-crazed” creeps to fight. The battle pass does what battle passes do: you pay money at three tiers then work to unlock differnet rewards, by competing in challenges and completing weekly quests....

“We want to let you all know that we’re still hard at work on building the next single-player focused experience for Dragon Age,” BioWare wrote in a blog post. “We’re excited for next year when we can talk more about what we’re working on.” While there hasn’t been a multiplayer-focused Dragon Age game, Dragon Age: Inquisition did have a multiplayer mode. It was four-player co-op and had you go on missions to deal with Inquisiton enemies....

Keywords contractors have also contributed to BioWare for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and DLC for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Game Developer report the contractors are struggling to live in Edmonton on the provincial minimum wage of $15 (£9) per hour they’re receiving. The QA testers say in-house staff doing the same job at BioWare make twice as much money as they do, while stressing that their issue is with Keywords Studios rather than co-workers at BioWare....

It’s out now, and there’s a new launch trailer below. Dungeon Encounters is directed by Hiroyuki Ito, who previously directed Final Fantasies VI, IX and XII. The rest of the development team is filled out with Final Fantasy veterans, too. The character design is from Ryoma Ito, who worked on Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and the musical director is Nobuo Uematsu, who composed music for nearly every Final Fantasy. There is something compelling about these folks doing something stripped back, and the game sounds like what you imagine from the name....

Wizards Of The Coast have been licensing out the D&D Forgotten Realms setting to video game developers for decades, most notably with the Neverwinter Nights and Baldur’s Gate series. They’ve invested more into publishing themselves over the last couple of years, though, and opened two new internal studios in 2022, Skeleton Key and Invoke Games. Since the cancelled projects were unannounced, there’s no word on whether these studios have been affected....

The initial report comes by way of Polski Gamedev’s interviews with unnamed Techland employees. It’s written in Polish, of course, so the details are a bit muddled in translation. Despite the language barrier, it’s pretty clear that what their sources inside Techland have shared isn’t a glowing recommendation. Reading through the article with an automated Google translation suggests talk of crunch, uncertainty, and difficulty collaborating with writer Chris Avellone of Fallout: New Vegas fame....

After more than a decade of annual releases, Konami released no new PES game in 2020, instead only selling a database update 2019’s eFootball PES 2020. As a consequence, fans of the series have been waiting twice as long as normal for a new game, and have increased expectations for the eventual game. eFootball does make some substantial changes to the series, including switching from Konami’s own FOX Engine to Unreal Engine 4....

Today’s EGX Digital announcement teases: “Attendees can expect many of their favourite features from the show, including landmark sessions with developers, panels, playable games; Let’s Play content with some of the biggest names in gaming; competitive gaming; hundreds of indie titles, Meets and Greets and much more.” I’m taking the opportunity to repitch an idea I requested when our corporate uncles launched a survey on digital events last week: a gameshow where our Matthew covers his dining table with groceries then secretly adds or removes items for contestants to spot....

Which sounds like a big deal, but really both studios are just reporting a change to their terms of service and privacy notices since they were bought by Embracer Group last month. Embracer Group completed their $300 million (around £253 million) acquisition of Square Enix’s western studios last month. As such, Crystal Dynamics announced today thjat they have been made the controller of “the gameplay and personal data related to” their games....

Their “early access” video shows the underground “secret vault” in Sweden where they keep all of the objects they’ve collected so far. Alongside games cartridges and disks, I spy a set of games cabinets, a life-size Stormtrooper figurine, and…a couch? According to their website, the mission of the archive is “to have a copy of each physical game ever released,” that will continue to update as new games come out....

Over on Twitter, Dodge Roll have shared that Enter The Gungeon has surpassed 3 million lifetime sales and simultaneously dropped the news that the spinoff game will officially be coming to PC. Though they don’t specify a date or month, my personal estimation of “early” is before the end of March. When Exit The Gungeon was first announced, Dodge Roll answered a lot of clarifying questions on Reddit about how it relates to Enter....

Developer publishing tools are something that Epic have been planning for a while now on their roadmap for the store. “To date, we’ve only had a manual process that relied on the Epic internal team for each step in publishing the more than 650 games and apps currently available,” they explain on the signup page for the self-publishing closed beta. Epic say that the goal for self-publishing is to “streamline the process for developers to set up their own product pages, achievements, pricing, offers, and upload builds and updates on the Epic Games Store....
