Or at least what’s left of the United States, as the aforementioned big apocalypse has effectively nuked the country’s ability to communicate with itself and is now just a bunch of independent cities. But just look at her eyes, her skin! Yes, there’s a very vague whiff of a slight rubbery-ness about her, like she’s got one of those masks on from Mission Impossible, but cor, I could almost be looking a real person....

RPS: DK2 was announced back in 2016. Is the game’s protracted gestation a consequence of unforeseen problems, perfectionism, or feature creep? Dan: The short answer is … a bit of everything … perfectionism indeed and feature creep in the design stage. In general, I’d advise any studio not to do a sequel to their own games, or not to do it immediately after the first game. You might be burned out on the theme and game style; and you’ll be too tempted to do it “the right way” this time....

The Game Awards Festival sale is taking place over on Steam where you can find discounts on several of the nominees for different awards categories. Doom Eternal is on pretty steep sale once again, as are Star Wars: Squadrons and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. When a friend introduced the Invisible Guardian to me, I was blown away by the high production values. The game recreates its historical settings in a stunning fashion. But what made me stay up all night to finish it was the clever writing and interactive storyline used to grab the player’s attention. Players take control of Xiao Tu, a Chinese intellectual who has just arrived in war-torn China from the Empire of Japan....

The planned updates will target The Long Dark’s core Survival mode and take the form of a season pass. The expansion will be spread through around 15 to 18 months in regular instalments for anyone who buys the pass. Hinterland are also aiming to offer the contents in three or four DLC packs after their release. Multiplayer in The Quarry’s Wolf Pack mode means you can invite up to seven pals, co-workers or randoms you meet on the bus into your hosted game session. They’ll vote on key choices as you play, with the majority deciding what happens in applaudable democratic fashion. The Quarry’s take is a little different from how multiplayer works in their The Dark Pictures Anthology series. It reminds me of Telltale’s Crowd Play functionality that was introduced with their first Batman game....

That hasn’t happened lately. I have, however, been playing Stirring Abyss, and in the interests of being fair, I must make it clear upfront that I’ve enjoyed it, and my choosing not to go into detail about it shouldn’t be taken as a mark against the game itself.
