This titbit of Valo news comes from last week’s instalment of Ask Valorant, a weekly series where Riot address a few popular questions from fans. Unfortunately, there’s no definite date we can expect to see replays, they just say it’s something they’re “interested in exploring soon”. Another feature they mentioned that they’re actually working on right now is a gifting system. It’ll be similar to the one in League Of Legends, so players can give each other some nice in-game pressies....

So I put the question to Steam Deck designers Greg Coomer and Lawrence Yang when I spoke to them last week, and while they don’t think people will buy it as their first PC, they do expect it will be a good upgrade option for existing PC players looking for a new rig. “We don’t have a strong prediction that a bunch of people are going to choose it as their first PC, but as a lot of people choose to upgrade their existing PCs, we feel fairly confident that Steam Deck will be a choice that they make,” Coomer tells me....

As first spotted by Gaming On Linux, this list totalled 243 yesterday (February 10th), so that’s another 51 added overnight. And there are another 193 games in the Playable category too – there are games which run smoothly on the Steam Deck, they might just present minor issues like small text, or the need to stop and open up the Deck’s on-screen keyboard at certain points. Verified games, meanwhile, should work nicely as they are, and will appear in a separate ‘Great on Deck’ tab in the Steam library for easier access....

Despite prioritising function over a particularly sexy form, the final Steam Deck is a likeable little PC with comfortable controls. But the study of history will always inform the present, so in the interests of knowing a) where the Deck’s design came from and b) precisely which bullets we dodged, let’s take a look at some of the more striking prototypes that never made it off the Valve workbench....

The company has decided it will not own or operate any businesses in Russia and Belarus and will leave both countries,” said the company in a statement. “Effective March 31 the company transferred its live games business in Russia and Belarus to local management of Lesta Studio that is no longer affiliated with Wargaming. The company will not profit from this process either today or going forward....

Trail Of Treachery comes to Vermintide 2 free on Tuesday as the first mission in a two-parter. Your party needs to escort a goodie-packed caravan through snow and ice to the plague-ridden village of Tockstadt, which isn’t having a great time with supernatural goings-on right now. Ray tracing was disabled as part of Darktide’s day-one update for PC, and listed among the known issues that Fatshark are fiddling about trying to fix. “Ray tracing is currently disabled for AMD and Intel GPU users while investigating issues related to our support for these GPUs,” the patch notes read. “We are working closely with our hardware partners to resolve this as soon as possible. Until then, ray tracing is turned off by default to avoid any issues in playing the game....

That’s not all, though! We’ve been playing extremely well in the game’s Resurgence mode, mostly because I can jump in and die immediately, before getting respawned for free. Ed’s 27th birthday is coming up and I tease a surprise our squad has gotten him - one that in the real world he has received and very much enjoyed. There’ll be debriefing on the next episode. So far, AMD have only shown us one of their RX 6000 GPUs, pictured above. We’ve seen it as a giant floating render in Fortnite, and we also got a glimpse of it in the flesh when AMD’s CEO Dr Lisa Su showed it off during their Ryzen 5000 reveal earlier in the month. Today’s event, however, should reveal the entire RX 6000 line-up - although quite how many cards we’ll see remains unknown....

The world has undergone a sizeable redesign. They’re rebuilding the Fall Forest, making it larger and lusher for players enjoy. The Gold Coast has been recast to better fit its name. The grass now glimmers in the sun, blinding you to the darker elements that hide there, though the manly narrator assures us that the necromancer infestation is but a myth. Phew! We’re left with a few more glimpses of the brighter areas, like the Colovian Highlands and the city of Anvil, before delving into Blackwood....

Underground hacker collective DedSec has just contacted Diane, tasking her with rebuilding the local resistance against omniscient, fashy security megacorp Albion. The odds, it’s made clear, are overwhelming. Diane will have to keep to the shadows, working every advantage she has, if the renewed DedSec London is to survive. Naturally then, Diane immediately steals a high-powered sports car, and embarks on a full-on, hundred-mile-an-hour Ragnarok of a joyride through Westminster, while retro footie belter “Three Lions” blasts from the stereo....

Before the stream starts, I feel it’s only fair to warn you of what won’t be making an appearance. So, don’t expect any Star Wars, BioWare things like Dragon Age and Mass Effect (boo), or any newness from Skate. In a blog post, EA confirm they’ll have something to show for Battlefield 2042, and we’ll see some of the first footage for the upcoming action-adventure-looking game, Lost In Random (which is made by the developers of Fe)....

It’s the same for everyone, so seeing what’s in store for you in advance spoils a bit of the challenge. (On the other hand, if you’re struggling with the game, watching someone else go first is a nice way of making it a little easier....

Very quickly, you see, you gain the ability to not just walk on water, but run up a little and you’ll start power sliding freely around. Hold the jump button and you even charge up a big boosted power charge. Jump off the land and press sprint and you’ll dive, briefly powering through the water before smashing out again. It is delightful.

Mind, this is the first we’ve written on Pacer since it ditched its old moniker. See, R8 Games already tried a release in 2015, bringing the game out of early access under the name Formula Fusion two years later....
