Mind Control Delete has a lot of cool new enemies that are effectively slight variations on the shimmering silhouettes that chased after you in the original. While I do enjoy the armoured ones that have one single red limb for you to aim at, my favourite is definitely the Gary Rhodes-like spiky boys. The new trailer lays out the fantasy set up that motivates Grey Irma as well as demonstrating just how hard and in what sort of ways she can hit things. The majority of Shepards ended up being shooty shooty men over having glowing blue alien powers that let you throw people across a room. 40% of people decided to play Mass Effect: Call Of Duty rather than be a tech expert that can literally launch fire at people. Baffling. Does this mean that 40% of people who played ME don’t know the joy of comboing a biotic explosion with your squadmates?...

In an e-mail to staff yesterday (republished on Polygon), Activision Blizzard announced that they are converting all US-based temporary and contingent QA workers to full-time employees. This comes with full company benefits, access to the company bonus scheme, and a pay raise to a minimum of $20 per hour. This is a bump up from $17/hour, a rate only gained a few months ago. Before that, according to the ABK Workers Alliance (aka ABetterAKB), most of QA were on $13 or $15 per hour, depending on location....

An Activision spokesperson says the company is hopeful they can “help the CMA better understand our industry.” They added that the deal would “promote an environment where people can be confident they are getting great choices and fair deals.” Kotick added that ActiBlizzard’s giant IP and mobile expertise, combined with Microsoft’s distribution capabilities will enable more competition in the industry, not less. Either way, Kotick assured employees that the CMA’s findings are “a normal part of their evaluation process,” and that it “opens the door to discuss various commitments Microsoft can make....

Previously, Humble Bundle customers were able to manually change how much of their purchase went to Humble, a selected charity, and the game’s publisher. That system allowed a user to give their entire purchace to charity, for instance, or at least tweak the amounts to a split they wanted. Humble’s previous announcement explained that they would be removing the split sliders in favor of two defined split options, the default being 5% to charity....

Perhaps it’s easier to create all these big, flat Midwestern landscapes versus more populous coastal states....

The “fuss” being that Among Us, which was released in 2018, exploded in popularity in August 2020.
