I don’t know the original Nier but Automata has some cracking tunes, and a good spread of songs and battle tunes and things are up here. I was actually looking for Weight of the World on Spotify the other week but found only covers, so this is quite welcome....

Grounded is a a four-player co-op survival RPG in which you play as one of four teenagers who’ve managed to get themselves shrunk down to the size of ants in an experiment gone-wrong. Now you have to survive in the wilderness of what would otherwise be a fairly mundane garden, except now the baseballs are the size of your house, and lots of insects want to eat you. There’s crafting, base-building and all that good stuff you’d expect from this sort of game....

Playing Metro Exodus at night, both in-game and in meatspace, was fun on an IPS screen but game-changing on an ultrawide VA one like the Z35P. If you’re an Overwatch fan then last weekend’s Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase was something of a treat. The show finally set an October 4th release date for Overwatch 2, nearly three years after the game was revealed. There was also the mic drop that Overwatch 2’s release will include a free-to-play version of the game. Overwatch 2’s first closed beta started on April 26th and ran through to May 17th, so you can expect something like another three week window with the second one....

Watch the trailer, you’ll see. As daft as that opening paragraph probably made Palworld sound, it doesn’t even entirely capture everything that it’s got going on. Palworld has monster collecting and machineguns, sure, but also crafting and cooking and an open world and multiplayer. And by “crafting” I mean you can build a garden or a spaceship or a pyramid. Palworld is being developed by Pocketpair, who previously worked on the similarly expansive Craftopia and similarly maximalist tower defense game Overdungeon....

Persona 5 was (rightly) a darling when it came to the PlayStation 4 a few years back. It was a winning combination of complex turn-based combat and a Breakfast Club-esque gang of teens coming together and learning to love/respect each other. They did this while spending their free time fighting through the id-castles of various perverts terrorising sections of Tokyo. The Phantom Thieves Of Hearts, as the gang became known, reformed these criminals by stealing a totemic treasure from the subject’s Palace....

When Sega first revealed New Genesis last year, it was a little unclear whether it was an update or a brand new game. Turns out, it’s kinda both. It’s like a baby new game, a little hatchling venturing out by itself (one that you can still use your existing Phantasy Star Online 2 character to play). New Genesis follows on from the base game, albeit set 1000 years in the future....

Despite kicking around for the better part of a decade, Phantasy Star Online 2 has only made proper (ahem, “official”) headway in the West this year with a North American release back in April. While that release was muted by being a Windows Store exclusive, it came with the promise that PSO2 would eventually come to “more PC platforms”. Now, Sega have announced that PSO2 is coming to a little platform called Steam - and as is the done thing these days, is arriving with a heap of crossover cosmetics with Valve’s catalogue....

Post Trauma follows Roman, a middle-aged train conductor, as he becomes trapped in the terrifying and claustrophobic world we see in the trailer. Everything looks surreal, whether it’s the endless computer monitors stacked on top of each other or the weird, fleshy tentacles coming out of the concrete. While the trailer has some third-person shots, these are likely used for dramatic effect since the devs have confirmed that Post Trauma has fixed camera angles....

This new version of Red Dead Online is available now, priced at £4.50 / $5 until February 15th next year, when it’ll go up to £18 / $20 - which is a really good deal, to be fair.
