Down here in the new trailer, Anshar Studios list of several different things that can “branch the narrative” including your character’s chosen background, professions you pick throughout the story (“like, a lot”), approahces you take to your investigation, deductions you make, and your interactions with characters and factions. Varried outcomes based on your choices aren’t, like, groundbreaking stuff in RPGs, but given that Gamedec is a non-combat RPG about a detective, it is encouraging that Anshar are focused on the investigate-y bits....

Dark Souls’ multiplayer has experienced a troubled year. The game’s servers only went back up a month ago, after spending seven months offline. FromSoftware had disabled PvP for all Dark Souls games on Steam in January following the discovery of a security vulnerability that could affect anyone who played the game online. The servers for Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 still haven’t been restored. Needless to say, players weren’t happy to see the game’s PvP go offline again so shortly after being brought back....
Darkest Dungeon is a challenging, turn-based RPG roguelike that sees you sending a team of adventurers into increasingly horrible dungeons to fend off increasingly horrible eldritch monsters. It started life in early access in 2015, and we loved it so much that it quickly became one of our favourite games of 2016 when it launched in full. It’s since added a clutch of equally brilliant DLC, a free PvP mode, and spawned a sequel, Darkest Dungeon 2, which came out on the Epic Games Store just a few weeks ago....

Given the apocalyptic circumstances of Dying Light’s reality, it’s hard to see how Hell can be any more, well, hellish. What’s a skeleton if not a fleshless zombie, anyway? Hellraid’s a bit of a strange one, even by Dying Light’s extended DLC standards. The expansion has roots in, well, Hellraid - a long-absent fantasy slasher from Techland that’s been “on hold” for the past five years. While it seems the devs haven’t completely abandoned the project, they’re not beyond bringing a bit of Hellraid into their open-world zombie smasher....

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware said in today’s announcement that they “have identified the cause and are working on fixing the issue.” However, FromSoft are a little busy right now. “Due to the time required to set up proper testing environments, online services for the Dark Souls series on PC will not resume until after the release of Elden Ring,” they say. “We will continue to do everything we can to bring back these services as soon as possible....
I have a soft spot for these marketing videos which operate like gamer LARPs, in which developers roleplay the most serious and engaged players they can imagine. The above video is filled with po-faced chatter as three players break into a compound, sneak past some guards, hack into a building, and nab a reactor before fleeing back to their ship for a getaway. It’s totally unlike how the vast majority of players will speak while doing these missions themselves, but hey, it’s trying to sell the flavour of the thing, so whatever....
On the 27th of October, Horizons will be rolled into the base game for all as a free update. All players will get to drive spacecars, create their spaceface, craft spaceitems, fly with spacepals, and that other Horizons stuff. That’s happening on consoles too, by the way. If you already have Horizons, you’ll receive the ‘Azure’ paint job, a pearlescent lilac-turquoise look that’ll work on all 41 ships. that’s Reminds me of the gaudy shader on half my guns in Destiny 2, Iridescent Coral....
