Romero says the book is “a positive story of gratitude for a life in games”, and adds that it’ll share the lessons he’s learned during his many years in the industry. The Romero family history sounds like it’s been interesting enough to hold anyone’s attention for several hundred pages. Romero’s great grandmother Elvira Duarte was the basis for one of the crime bosses in Romero Games’ 2020 gangster sim Empire Of Sin, for example....

I can’t have been older than 12 when I first made a RuneScape account, because I’m pretty sure I had to lie about my age to sign up (you have to be 13 to play) (also please don’t read this, RuneScape police). My main memories of it are doing the tutorial quest over and over, and burning lots of shrimp I’d caught in the river. And that was when it was just called RuneScape....

I reviewed the Lux RGB model of the K70 a couple of years ago and found it to be a well-made keyboard with a great set of features, even if I wasn’t such a fan of the Cherry Silent MX switches that came with my particular review sample. Ice Wall is normally an ability used to block incoming damage, separate enemies, or lift allies in the air using - you guessed it - a wall of ice. The ability is currently failing to do all three, despite only having its health updated in the transition to Overwatch 2. Reddit user u/Donler lays out a list of problems that seem to show the wall isn’t always as solid as it should be....

Dear reader, Liam and I emerged from our Overwatch 2 session having had a marvellous chat. We caught up on life, talked about Monster Hunter Rise, and how nice it is that the RPS Treehouse is complete again. Everything except Overwatch 2 itself was discussed… Which says it all, really. Well, that’s a little bit of a lie. Liam and I did chat a bit about Overwatch 2’s second beta, but only for two brief moments....

Here’s the full list of balance changes outlined in a post by Overwatch 2’s community manager: The post linked above explains that most of these changes are designed to make these heroes a little less powerful, either because they were re-balanced in Overwatch 2 in a way that made them more deadly than in the original game, or because the format change to 5v5 has given them a boost. Genji, for example, “is a Hero that has greatly benefited from the move to 5v5”, according to the post....

Update: Atlus have tweeted saying, “All will be revealed December 8” and have updated their official site to say “The Phantom Thieves of Hearts will return”. Persona 5 Scramble launched in Japan in February 2020 for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch but it looks like an English version, including a PC port, are about to be officially announced. The unlisted trailer with fresh voice acting was spotted before it could be pulled off YouTube, but the folks at Gematsu have snagged and uploaded it....

For now, haptic suit support has been added to Phasmophobia’s opt-in beta brach. As tends to be the case with Phasmo changelogs, the notes aren’t terribly specific. “Added support for bHaptics tact suits and face covers. Full implementation will be a gradual process over time however the majority of haptics are in,” Kinetic Games say. If you’re not familiar with them, you can spot the tactsuits over on Bhaptics’ site....

This drive uses QLC 3D NAND, which allows Intel to achieve very high capacities while using relatively few chips, a strategy that allows this 3500MB/s read and 3000MB/s write card to cost less than many SATA drives that are limited to 550MB/s....

Today’s PS5 infoblast comes one week after Microsoft announced their new Xbox dates. Launching two days apart? They’re really going head-to-head again, huh. So, a new generation of console hardware rolling out means multiplatform games will take big steps in graphical fanciness and PC system requirements once again. Just as I’d gotten comfortable with the idea of not having to upgrade my PC every other year. On the bright side, maybe we’ll see more prettiness on PC in patches like The Witcher 3’s free next-gen upgrade....

Though the discussion on Halo is actually pretty enlightening, if I do say so myself, including whether it holds up, chats about which is the best one, and memories of an ex-boyfriend of mine, the highlight of the podcast this week is probably our chat about Death Stranding. This devolves into a mini-game where VidBud Matthew and I describe things we say happen in Death Stranding and then Nate, who has avoided all knowledge of said Kojimasterpiece, guesses if they are true or not....

I was also lulled into a false sense of security by the contrasting design of It Takes Two, which is a cartoony, colourful toy box built on a Borrowers scale. I assumed it would be a fun run-about you could play with a kid, or your partner who isn’t into games because they do normal adult things like eat poached eggs. But the two sections I played in preview were the most couchy, co-operative thing I’ve played in years....

One person wasn’t immediately happy with Introversion’s announcement though. Robust Games’ Adam Riches, currently working on comedy point-and-click adventure Loco Motive, noticed that the trailer and Steam store page for The Last Starship included some astronaut sprites he’d produced. Introversion hadn’t approached Riches to ask for his work’s inclusion, but when he alerted them to it they reached out and apologised. Riches subsequently tweeted that they’d compromised, and “both parties are satisfied”....

Project LLL is set in a 30km open world which includes “procedurally created content that reacts appropriately to the player’s situation”. There are vehicles to help you traverse that terrain, including cars, helicopters and giant mech suits. Its developers also cite inspirations from sci-fi classics, including Foundation, Dune, Blade Runner and The Man In The High Castle. When I hear phrases like, ‘NCSoft are making an MMO shooter’, I still get pictures in my head of Tabula Rasa....

Most of these features, except wireless charging, were introduced a few weeks ago on the Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro (also pictured above, in white). But having used both for a few days, I’m personally more taken with the Basilisk V3 Pro – although it doesn’t have the DeathAdder’s impressive lightness, the textured sides, comfy thumb rest and optical switches all make it just as pleasurable to use as my own everyday rodent....

The level, xKx-ELDEN RACE, is made by player “kailiman666” (and comes to my attention from this tweet). Hit the Track Central menu in-game and search for Elden Race, you’ll find it easy enough. Here, I recorded a replay of the current best time, scored by “Sly_GT4”: I like the level. The architecture and colours capture an overall vibe of Elden Ring nicely with only a small area and limited art assets....

Now I know Tim Burton-inspired things can be a little polarising, but playing Rogue Lords isn’t quite the same as sitting through The Nightmare Before Christmas. At the start of each run, you select which three famous spooks you’ll take with you. From there, the game is a little like Slay The Spire, offering up a map with different routes that can take you to combat, minibosses, random events, shops full of relics, and more....
