If the keyword has passed you by, Rush cards are able to attack other minions on the turn they’re put into play, but not the enemy hero. That provides the Rush Warrior player with a huge amount of initiative, particularly in the early game, but without creating the kind of balance issues that have been historically associated with Charge. Basically, you’ll have a whole lot of answers to all your enemy’s plays when they make them....

If it was what they thought, it hasn’t worked. Players report that Re-Elected isn’t an upgrade at all, but that it has broken their save games, their mods, and introduced new launch and crash bugs to the nine-year-old game. Upon booting the game up, it’s immediately clear that you’re in for a visual treat.The design and detail are just ever so lovely: from the way firelight gives a soft glow to its surroundings in the twilight, to how fog wafts lazily over cobble stairways in a musty dungeon, it’s all just so utterly gorgeous to look at. Ska Studios have always had a recognizable art style – imposing architecture and grungy moppets – but it’s plain to see here that they’ve upped their game in the best possible way....

This is Satisfactory, a cracking first-person factory-builder that’s been in early access on Epic for a while. It’s coming to Steam today, so RPS management dispatched me to inspect the game’s machinery and ruin the extraterrestrial idyll with smog and incompetence. They sent the right person. Imagine if somebody shrunk you and injected you into Factorio to oversee things close-up. That’s basically what Satisfactory feels like to play. You’re a corporate peon, sent to fill the blue skies of this virgin world with smoke and its grasslands with machinery, all painted a garish bulldozer gold....

Some were executables, some were zip files, and you had to follow lengthy instructions on the mod’s website to piece them together. Now a new setup tool makes that process easier by letting you download and install whichever enhancements you want in just a few clicks....

In the developers’ announcement vid below, they’ve kitted out an entire room with ten (10!) fish tanks, harbouring a variety of marine life and decorations. Described by Focus as the first of two new maps planned for Phase 1, Lake Kovd is four square kilometres of mountainous Russian landscape centred around that eponymous frozen puddle. While you’ve got some lovely forest trails to traverse, the big new feature is that much of the region expects you to certainly plot a course over a thin layer of ice. Get your judgements wrong, and there’s a good chance of you cracking a lorry-shaped hole in it - sending five tons of steel sinking to the bottom of the lake....

This run was going well, despite several close calls, until it suddenly, violently wasn’t going at all. In some ways these kinds of deaths are less frustrating than those that come from attritional damage, because they tend to be caused by one enormous mistake instead of several, smaller, more avoidable erorrs. Splitgate’s developers reported pulling in an unanticipated 50,000 players across all platforms as of July 20th. It currently has nearly 60,000 players on Steam alone. “The rate of growth of our playerbase is faster than the rate we can increase server capacity,” 1047 explain. “We are working on a long term solution to greatly increase server capacity to well over 100k concurrent but this takes time.” They also shared an explanation of the situation from their server engineer, who likens the sudden popularity to being a five-top restaurant suddenly facing a queue of thousands of diners....

The Game Awards 2022 gave us our first detailed look so far at what Jedi: Survivor is shaping up to be, and since then we’ve been drip-fed info and footage - the latest of which is a lovely 9-minute gameplay showcase, which you’ll see below. So, is it a by-the-book sequel, or have Respawn taken things in a different direction with the follow-up to Fallen Order? The answer is… well, it’s a bit of both....

In the latest, teasing, behind-the-scenes Into The Starfield video, the development team discuss some of the values that remain the same between Starfield and Bethesda’s other games. It maybe starts with the cups. In the seven-minute video above, game director Todd Howard, studio director Angela Browder and art director Matt Carofano discuss Starfield in the context of the studio. They talk about the core team, many of whom have allegedly been at the studio for close to two decades, and get into some of the worldbuilding underpinning their first sci-fi game....

Your Steam sale dates for the rest of the year, as confirmed by Valve’s Steamworks Documentation, are: Valve don’t have much to say about the autumn or winter sales yet, but do note some of the festivities planned around Halloween. They plan to highlight Halloweeny in-game events, additions, bonuses, and such on the hub sale page as well as in game feeds. But seemingly no fancy minigames or things that devs can join in with....

I spoke to Lasse Liljedahl, the game’s director at Iceflake, and Nikhat Ali, its lead producer at Paradox, last week. Ostensibly, the plan was to talk about what’s coming in update four. But respectfully, I couldn’t help but feel more interested in the process of making the game, than the game itself - at this point, at least....
