Eyes glued to the screen as you watch a text crawl tell the terrifying story of corporate goons going around with big buckets of glue and sticking everyone’s eyes to screens….forever. Cyberpunk, eh? Cyberpunk indeed, says Conglomerate 451. It sits somewhere between the Ultima Underworld homage of Legend of Grimrock, the debuff-firing turn based combat of Darkest Dungeon, and the base and squad management of Alien Defence Squad Trouser And Hairdo Customisation Adventure 2012, which I believe you proles call XCOM....
That’s not to say Coral Island isn’t good. It’s all in very beautiful bouncy 3D, for one thing, and I found the island setting (which impacts the flora, fauna, and architecture in general) made everything feel less like work. Combined with a thread of environmentalism weaving through the game, and the fact that Coral Island is slightly easier than Stardew Valley, and you feel like you’re doing more progress in less time....
I’m all for other people making their own original spin on that monster-taming formula. Coromon, out now on Steam, looks like it might be less a spin on those older 2D Pokémon games than a straight homage, however. In Coromon, you’re a “battle researcher” exploring a pixel art world, solving puzzles, and capturing and battling with monsters called Coromon. As Pokélikes go, the monster designs appeal to me much more here than in something like the briefly popular Temtem....
Activision had previously announced that Crash 4 would be coming to PC this year. Plenty of folks, including me, were expecting the PC version to arrive around October, a year after the console launch. Well, looks like time is on our side for once. Crash 4 is coming to Battle.net before the end of March. The PC version of Crash 4 will support 4K resolutions and have an uncapped framerate....
Some nice spectacle there, mind. I’m a sucker for a shooter campaign with spectacle. Also, unexpected Crysis stealth suits? But that DMX cover is taking a tired trailer trend too far. I thought LoL’s downtempo Warriors this year was my breaking point. Turns out, no, it’s DMX. CrossfireX is based on Crossfire, a free-to-play Counter-Strike clone which has been on PC for yonks. X gives it a shiny rebuild in Unreal Engine 4, complete with this here campaign that Remedy are chipping in on....
Get the Crucial P3 2TB for £105 (was £174) The Crucial P3 has impressive specs that more or less max out the PCIe 3.0 connection, with maximums of around 3500MB/s sequential reads and 3000MB/s sequential writes. Random read and write speeds are also strong, at 650K and 700K IOPS respectively. In terms of metrics like game load times and OS boot times, you should expect excellent results, and that means it’s quite easy to recommend the P3 for most people....
That’s galling. More galling still is that even if the shooting was as sharp as Battlefield’s, I’d probably still chalk Crucible up as an interesting failure. Crucible’s shtick involves two factions competing for resources on a hostile alien planet, but I couldn’t tell you why. In one of the two main modes, two teams of four scrap over “hive hearts” that you get from killing big tendrilly fungi. My best guess is that those hearts are delicacies for the uber-wealthy, and you play mercenaries sent out to claim their culinary stake....

On the stability side, CDPR say they’ve addressed memory use related to many of the game’s systems including characters, navigation, street traffic, and more. They’ve also made fixes to crashing issues while loading saves and opening or closing the game. Related to some prominent save file corruption issues from shortly after launch, CDPR say they’ve fixed an issue “responsible for saves getting oversized (related to the modifier indicating if the item is crafted), and trimmed the excess size from already existing saves”....
The game already had PC cross-play between the Steam and Window Store editions, but now even players on PlayStation, Xbone, and Nintendo Switch will be able to hunt and escape from each other together, too. Cross-play is also joined by a thing the devs are calling “cross-friends”, which is basically just the ability to add people to your friend list regardless of the platform they play on. The devs also mention in that post that console players won’t be able to see or use the in-game chat, though PC players still will....
Descenders is a game of high-speed, high-stunting downhill mountain biking. Its main mode is a roguelikelike career campaign where, in the style of Slay The Spire, you plot a course between mysterious nodes on maps to reach the end of a sector and battle a boss. The map nodes are courses of different styles (and sometimes with bonus opportunities for progression), and the boss battle is a ridiculous giant stunt over a moving train or chasm or volcano or such....
Dirt 5 was revealed during last month’s Xbox Series X showcase, tentatively pinning an October release date on the filthy racer. Now, Codemasters are confident they’ll be waving the chequered flag on Dirt 5 this October 9th. Besides the release date trailer, Codemasters packed the back seats with more Dirt 5 deets in a community blog post earlier today. There are some new screens to gawk at, while seasoned voice actors Nolan North and Troy Baker’s roles in the story-driven career mode after fleshed out a little more....

Six months later, Teamfight Tactics seems relatively stable, while Dota Underlords is dropping fast. We normally don’t pay player numbers much heed, but given autobattlers were last year’s big new genre and Dota and League Of Legends are both long-term titans, it’s hard not to ask the question: how come? The first, obvious, consideration is that TFT lives inside the League Of Legends launcher. Riot don’t regularly reveal their player numbers, but we do know that League had around 8 million peak concurrent players each day in August....
