Edgerunners was first revealed in the very cyberpunk year of 2020. It centres around a young lad called David who suffers a personal tragedy that drives him to become a mercenary in the futuristic world of Night City. Sztybor said that David loses everything but gets powerful and dangerous cyberware installed in him, and it will be up to him whether he uses it to fulfil his dreams. The show is all “100% canon” too, in case you were wondering where it fits in with the game....

At least, that was the case until I played Citizen Sleeper. It’s a rather simple RPG inspired by tabletop roleplaying games, giving you a limited number of action dice that you can spend each day to receive consequences. Mechanically, it doesn’t stretch much further than those actions and consequences, meaning I can instead focus on connecting with characters. In its simplicity, I found a cathartic way to process my thoughts on lots of scary stuff happening in our actual world....

Farthest Frontier is in development at the studio responsible for Grim Dawn, Crate Entertainment, and was announced in January 2021. In it, you’ll have to contend with all the kinds of things real-world settlers would, like cholera and people trying to pillage your spuds. Keep your villagers’ water supply clean and train some troops up, though, and you’ll be golden – or alive, at least. Maps are randomly generated so you’ll never know where to scrounge resources from when you start a new game....

The setting is called Anbennar, and it’s already become a popular Europa Universalis IV mod. Anbennar is a “massive collaborative worldbuilding project” that modder “Jay10101” started working on six years ago, leading to the Europa Universalis mod first released in 2018. “In EU4, we explored what happens to a fantasy world in an age of gunpowder and reformation,” they explain. “In CK3, we will deal with fantasy at its peak: an age of knights and magic, with all with the undertones of political and dynastic intrigues that we all know and love”....

Edgerunners is not a direct adaptation of CP2077, rather a new ten-episode series set in the same place Night City. CDPR say it’s “about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner—a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.” Edgerunners will be directed by Kill La Kill director Hiroyuki Imaishi, with character designs from Yoh Yoshinari and Yuto Kaneko of Little Witch Academia, and a score is by Silent Hill’s Akira Yamaoka....
