After impressing us with his extensive review of all the Fallouts (5-75, in case you missed it) and taking us on an epic tour of Dwarf Fortress in his Basement Of Curiosity diary, Nate became our go-to for strategy, simulation and management games, and there’s no one I trust more to tell me about the likes of Humankind, Company Of Heroes 3 and Oldworld than him....

Kate: Collateral Damage will follow along pretty literally, it sounds. “A time bar at the top of the screen constantly marches towards your inevitable death at the hands of the deadly radioactive poison, Polonium 204,” developers Ludic Studios say....

It’s only a short trailer right now, but Return To Moria, due out some time next year, is looking both moody and potentially memetic. Who doesn’t love screenshots of Dwarves doin’ stuff? Drums in the deep, lads! Look at those caverns! Phwoar! It’s set in the Fourth Age, which is the peacetime era immediately following the War Of The Rings (what happens in the movies, basically), and players embody a Dwarf summoned to a proc-gen Moria by Gimli to reclaim lost spoils....

Offworld Trading Company is one of the best strategy games on PC, where the RPS folk say it’s a game that “slots neatly into a genre but doesn’t seem to follow many–if any–of the established rules of that genre.” It’s all about profit—not combat—but you’ll compete against rival space CEOs tooth and nail regardless. A slew of numbers and information are constantly up on screen for you to track and attempt to make sense of for those of you who like playing spreadsheets masquerading as games....

Ori And The Will Of The Wisps Sand Worm guide I hope you’ve been practising burrowing and grappling. This entire section must be done in one go and is very, very hard to do right first time. The worst bit about all of this is getting your buttons mixed up, so try to keep in mind that if you’re using a controller, LB/L1 is for grappling and RB/R1 is for burrowing/dashing....

Get the AMD Ryzen 5 5500 for £113 (was £176) The Ryzen 5 5500 is pretty interesting actually, with the same core layout (6C/12T) as the Ryzen 5600X but slower clock speeds and a smaller 16MB L3 cache. It’s actually a cut-down Ryzen 5600G APU, which also means it lacks PCIe 4.0 support - a bit of a bummer. The lower frequency and smaller cache compared to the 5600X reduces game frame-rates and content creation workloads across the board, but the base level of performance with Ryzen 5000 is so high that you’re still left with quite a capable little chip....

Hit Left 4 Dead 2’s Steam Workshop and you will find three main things: 1) weapon models from other games; 2) serious tacticool outfits for serious kewl d00ds ; 3) anime girls. Like a moth to a flame, I couldn’t resist installing a random grab bag of anime girls, just to see what would happen. I did not pay attention to who the anime girls were or which models they replaced....

The choice of CMOS sensor is quite unusual for a gaming webcam. You normally only see them on digital cameras and the like, but the larger lens does bring some important benefits. It allows more light in, for starters, leading to a crisper, more defined image, and combining it with Sony’s Stravis tech (which is often used in surveillance cameras thanks to its ability to pick up visible and near-infrared light regions) should mean you still get smooth, clear video footage even if your room’s lighting is a bit dark and dingy, or you’re a budding streamer and don’t want to break the bank on expensive lights....

Wesker’s reveal was part of today’s Behaviour Beyond stream from Dead By Daylight’s devs. Dead By Daylight and Resident Evil first crossed over in last year’s Nemesis event, adding Resi’s Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy and the titular S.T.A.R.S.-hunting monstrosity as part of DBD’s fifth anniversary celebrations. Project W was revealed during the game’s sixth anniversary stream back in May. This seems to be turning into a yearly thing from Dead By Daylight and Capcom....
