Bots were one of the enhanced edition’s major new additions, and a lot of the changes in this patch are focused on making them better. Bots should now be better at melee attacks, swimming and selecting weapons, as well as handling elevators. The Basilisk Ultimate is a good shout if you want a mouse that remains comfortable all day, and the super-slick scroll wheel makes it easy to jet around the web or get to where you’re going in long documents. The buttons are pleasantly clicky, and with 11 in total you can bind a bunch of macros or in-game actions. While the Basilisk Ultimate doesn’t feature on the RPS list of the best gaming mice, as we discovered the last time this mouse was discounted (in the UK), resident hardware expert James did pen a review of the Basilisk V3, a wired successor to this wireless model....

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad responded to the leak on Twitter by saying that the Alan Wake remaster would be announced next week. Developers Remedy Entertainment got the publishing rights for Alan Wake back from Microsoft in 2019. It returned to online stores at that point, and it’s currently £11.39/€12.49 on Steam. Since then, the character Alan Wake has appeared in a Control expansion, Remedy’s supernatural action game set in the same universe....

Yep, you guessed it. It’s Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters! Katharine: Warhammer 40K: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters has been one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. It wasn’t on my radar heading into 2022, but the more I heard about it being a kind of angry XCOM in space, the more I thought, “Hold up now, this sounds like 100% my kind of jam”. And hot damn, it really was....

Get the Acer XF240QS for £150 (was £185) The XF240QS uses a modern TN panel, which gives it phenomenal motion handling with a quoted 1ms GtG response time - only high-end IPS and VA monitors can compare with this, with most IPS and VA screens at this price point more typically offering 4ms+ response times. This means that each pixel can change from one colour to another quickly, maximising motion clarity while minimising trails behind fast-moving objects....

That’s a great spec for the money, although you do have options at this price point depending on the games you want to play - more on that later. Get the Asus ROG Strix G15 for £999 (was £1499) So, the spec. I think this particular model is ideal for anyone that likes to play fast-paced esports titles like Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Valorant and so on. The 240Hz screen makes for a very responsive experience, while the high-end eight-core CPU (with 5GHz maximum boost) should perform great in these kind of games where you’re often CPU-limited....

In any case, power supplies are important, mm’kay, and this 550W 80+ Gold modular one from Corsair is discounted here in the UK. There’s only one level type available in Urbo’s Next Fest demo at the moment - a very mellow desert stage - but from the looks of its Steam page, there will be other biomes available, including grassy river cliffs, when it launches sometime between April and June later this year. The level is split between three different rocky stacks of increasing tile size, and you’ll only move on to the next one once you’ve run out of room on the one you’re working on....

Here’s a trailer which lays it out: Midnight Mercenaries really does hew closely to Hotline Miami. After a brief tutorial, you wake in your apartment and receive a phone call giving you an unusual job to do. You then bash your way through a building full of violent goons. You can knock them down with doors, throw your weapon at them, smash windows to surprise them - all that horrible, gory Hotline Miami stuff....

Over the weekend, the first alleged image of Nvidia’s RTX 3080 GPU emerged on the forum Chiphell, which you can see below. The pictures show the front and back of the supposed Nvidia Ampere GPU, including that all important name of RTX 3080, seemingly confirming that Nvidia’s next generation graphics cards will indeed follow an RTX 3000 series naming convention. The design is quite unusual, with fans on both sides of the alleged RTX 3080....

Thankfully, Tinykin takes a more whimsical approach to this hellish situation. It’s a sci-fi adventure platformer where you and a tiny alien army explore a giant house and, as a bite-size summary, it’s excellent. Splashteam have made a fun, laid-back Pikmin-like bursting with humorous surprises and I played the game with a silly grin on my face the entire time. In Tinykin, Earth has been long abandoned and humans have since moved to another distant planet....

The Furious Wild extends the campaign map into the jungles, where we’ll find four factions of Nanman folks. They have unique missions and narrative events, their own tech tree, and new units ranging from tigers and fleet-footed slingers unimpeded by terrain to big lads with flaming two-handed maces and full-on war elephants. Creative Assembly have released a handful of Three Kingdoms DLC packs before, adding new factions and historical moments, but this is the first big enough for them to declare it an “expansion”....

CA announced the project in a post on their website, much as they did with the other unannounced project back in May. This new action game is being developed by Creative Assembly Sofia, the studio based on Bulgaria’s capital which opened in 2017 and developed A Total War Saga: Troy in 2020. The Sofia studio will continue to work on Total War projects alongside a new team. There is currently no other official information on the game, and this is obviously an announcement designed to facilitate the recruitment of a team....
